Today, I just gained 5 points toward adulthood. I just had my first interview for a REAL job. Not just a summer or a student job but a real career job.
I am going to be a teacher!
It is surreal, I am on the brink of doing something I have longed and prepared for all of my college career!
4 years ago, I was still in high school and today...I still look like it. (Go to college, it works wonders!)
This morning I interviewed with the Principal at Westlake High School.
(The school is absolutely GINORMOUS and NEW.)
We all know that there are many different emotions/experiences that come with a serious interview.
Some people have...
Crazy Dreams & Restless Sleep
We all have had those dreams the night before, whether it is the first day of school, an important meeting or a significant event the next day...where everything that could go wrong does. Last night, I woke up nearly every hour thinking it was time to go because we all know lesson #1 of a successful job interview: Never be late.
Others may feel themselves becoming...
Desperate & Intense
You have the interview.
The job is so close.
You can almost taste the success.
It is normal to be...
Nervous.
The pressure begins to mount as you await your name being called.
This job is now about life or death. You start bouncing your leg in great anticipation as you remind yourself: be cool, be calm, be collected.
Will you come out alive?
Some become...
Eager & Go Overboard
YOU KNOW that you are the best candidate for the job. There is and will never be anyone who will do it as well as you can. You have 15 minutes to get their attention and show them that you are the one for the job...ready, go!
(afterall, this is your future we're talking about!)
As for me,
I had a very positive experience. I, surprisingly, was not very nervous.
I felt confident and collected because
I am excited and ready for this next chapter in my life.
**Shout Out to my Dad for helping me clean up my resume and for the advice. You saved me.
**A special thanks to my sweet husband for:
- picking my laptop off of my sleeping body last night and printing off my resume before carrying me to bed. (12 hour days on campus= one tired girl)
-Helping me pick out my outfit in the morning
-Firing off questions in the car for some last minute prep.
If anything, we can ALL do a victory dance once we are done because
A. We were at least good enough to get an interview
B. We gained a great learning experience for the future
C. We made it out alive and we did our best. AND even if we do not get the job, there are many other opportunities (possibly better) out there. Don't give up.
Just wait until you get to the car to do a Beyonce dance!
**Seize the day, brave ones!**
