HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Dracula was in charge of our ward Halloween Party this year--> he planned and "MC"ed the entire event.

Kids would run up to him..."Mr. Vampire, Mr. Vampire...can I do the pie eating contest??" or "Mr. Vampire, check out my costume? Did I win the costume contest yet?" or find me:"WHOA, you are married to Mr. Vampire? "Your skin is a very pretty color." Between him running the show + me stuffing my face for the pie eating contests w/ the yw and running the fishing booths...we were busy, busy! It definitely was a night for the books...and totally worth scrubbing our faces off to remove the paint.

HOWEVER, one of the best parts of Halloween this year: our homemade "Haunted Hedgie" movie! Chelsea (my twin sister) and Nick bought a hedgehog. To celebrate the holidays, they wanted to create this debut movie with their darling little star. They came over to our place one night with Hannah this week (having family live close rocks!). Between laughing breaks, moments of genius acting (ha!), and many hilarious outtakes, we created enough footage for this spooky film. After brilliantly compiling all of the footage, Chels sent me a link to this a day later...and we haven't stopped laughing since. Enjoy!

Happy Halloween xoxo

Halloween Left Us Speechless

Sorry this post is a little late but we wanted to wish you all, a Happy Halloween, mime style!

After work + school, we ran all over Provo/Orem trying to find a costume for our friend's epic Halloween Party. we ALWAYS dress up and this year was no exception. Yeah...we were those people who went to the costume store at 6:00pm on Halloween night... and come to find out-->so were Chels and Nick...we ran into them at one of the stores (HA) and that is why we love each other so!  Everything was picked over and WAY overpriced ($75 for face paint...who buys that?)  For fun, we tried on hilarious Hunger Games and Cindy Lou Who wigs that were a bajillion dollars....but we still ended up leaving empty handed. Suddenly, we had an idea and ran with it.
It's either go big or go home, baby.

Who would have guessed...we won our first Halloween Costume Contest!!!
And....even better....Cars ended up ripping his pants in one of the games...a few enthusiastic/quick movements...man down....we aren't talking about a little tear....it was a 7-inch rip all the way through the crotch...he was pretty stationary after that! :)

Needless to say, we had a riot at the Miles' home and went pants shopping the next weekend!

P.S. we aren't the only ones who had fun on Halloween. Check out my Dad ^^.
(I wonder where we get the love to dress up from)...Hagrid was up in Fruit Heights this Halloween! ;)

We hope you all had a Happy Halloween!

Dance Like No One is Watching

At our last family outing, my little cousin randomly brought up a dance we created last year and begged us to perform it for him. I had forgotten all about it.  As I was organizing a few of my files today, I found it! I couldn't stop laughing; I had to share.

One Friday night, three inhibition-free dancers decided to shake things up. We piled the furniture into the kitchen, jumped into some black stretchy pants, and created this.....

Ridiculous? yes. Weird? completely. Cherished Hilarious Memory? absolutely!
I sure do love these two people!

AND you know what? WE HAD A BLAST! We all need a moment, no matter how old we are, to relax, to"dance like no one is watching," and to just be us--whatever the activity may be.

Here's to self-choreographed dances and making memories!

proud wolf pup

Carson has wanted to teach me how to snowboard for years.
Today was that day!

PUMP UP TIME:
On our morning drive up, we weaved throughout the canyon watching, “The Art of Flight” on Nick’s phone. [If you have not seen footage from this movie, it is something to witness.] Professional snowboarders, sponsored by Red Bull, are flown to extreme landscapes (above) in the world and they snowboard unbelievable routes—never before taken by any man. The cinematography is mind blowing. The talent is unreal. and the sound track is inspiring.
(One of the men is even LDS.)

I came to learn quickly that skiing and snowboarding are very different and I needed to start from the beginning, again. Instead of following the skiiers (Chels and Nick) to the Black Diamonds, we (the boarding trio) decided to start things off slow.

Carson took Eliza and me over to the children’s hill, where the “wolf pups” were busy learning at ski school. From the moment I stood up, I wouldn’t let go of Carson—which made us look like we were hugging the entire way down the “steep” hill Ha. We would join the toddlers at the bottom and wait our turn to jump on the escalator and start over. I kept glancing over at the skiers wishing my feet weren’t stuck together. I wanted to go fast. (Carson being the great teacher he is, optimistically kept my focus on track!)

Finally, we broke up the courage to attempt the real slopes. It’s a good thing Carson is unbelievably talented; he would go backwards, forwards, and any which way I needed because I did not want to let go NOR did I want to hit the adorable children zooming down the hill “pizza” style.

We just laughed and laughedOccasionally, I would shout with excitement upon doing something successfully, only to draw attention to my lack of ability. After the first run, I began to realize this wasn’t so bad. I might even actually enjoy it. I was feeling confident. Cars was no longer my crutch--I was flyin' solo.

Lesson #1: One should not enthusiastically fist pump on a snowboard while going toe-side for the first time for fear of face planting.

For hours, we went up and down, up and down. Carson started to teach Eliza new tricks. [Wow, she picks things up quickly.] My mindset: No, thnx Cars, the half-pipe can wait until next time! We had a blast. Occasionally we would be blessed with the presence of the Chelsea and Nick, our profesh skiers.

The sun was shining. It was not too crowded. I was surrounded by people I love. AND believe it or not,
this little ski bum learned to board
Game Face.

Who knows, maybe by retirement, I can celebrate by doing this....
thank you for being the best, sweetheart, i love you.

Starting School w/ a Bang

Carson and I both registered for 8:00am classes 3x a week. We figured if we did it together it would be easier- it is.  11pm, the night before the first day of school, we were writing “thank-you” cards for all of the wonderful people in our lives. It got to a point where Carson and I could barely keep our eyelids open. We decided to turn in for the night. Then—

Me: (after hearing a few reoccurring [frightening] noises): Cars, do we have any weapons to protect ourselves?
Cars: Yeah, babe, I have guns.
Me: Here? You have your guns here?
Cars: Yeah, I hid them.
Me: Where?
Cars: I’ll go get them. He ran into the other room. A few moments later, he burst out, with a deep, masculine voice, “NERF GUNS!!!!!” Hahaha. [I had forgotten, Eliza (my little sister) came with Carson and I to Target one time and they added them to the registry to surprise me and surprise, someone BOUGHT THEM FOR US.] He was like a little kid at Christmas when he remembered we had them.
Me: Loud-laughter
Cars: I would do anything to protect you, bay. You are everything to me. You know that.

Content, I bundled up in my warm, cheetah jammies and hopped into bed. Cars was still in the other room. I waited and waited. All of a sudden, something pelted me in the back of the head, and then in the back, and before I knew it, I looked over to see this: (I caught the perfect pic. w/ my phone.)

I could not stop laughing. I did not think I could love this man anymore but every day I am  proven wrong. He makes me life worth living, and downright fun! --That was it; this meant war.--Carson launched my Nerf-gun onto the bed and took off.

All the lights were off; the apartment was still. I started to hold my breath. (We were now experiencing a G-rated Mr. and Mrs. Smith.) Okay, do I run out into the living room and potentially sacrifice myself for the sake of a shot or do I artfully make my way around the corners until I spot him. (Shouldn’t we be going to bed?) After what seemed like an eternity, I jumped from behind a corner, closed my eyes, and shot….Carson straight in the chest! Victory.

We started school off with a bang. Now that school has officially started, I am already going through withdrawals when Carson and I separate in the morning for our classes and responsibilities. I love school but my love for Carson is much stronger.
