The Love Challenge

"Marriage is a gift from God to us; the quality of our marriages is a gift from us to Him." Elder Clayton
I have been reminded of the importance of marriage so much this week:

*Wednesday Date Night (^^) at the Salt Lake City Temple. Cars and I had the opportunity to go to the SLC temple on our way back home...first time we had been back inside the SLC temple since we were married. The evening was filled with so much peace and happiness.
I was reminded of the morning we were married and the thoughts and feelings I felt moments before and after Carson became my husband. Words cannot express how grateful I am for families and for our marriage.

*Saturday, another friend from the Brotherhood (Carson's tight group of friends in high school) was married. It was such a beautiful day to celebrate their marriage. So much time and attention goes into the wedding day but we often don't celebrate the day to day accomplishments of marriage. How much preparation goes into the actual marriage part? With training for a marathon, both runners need to put in the daily time and effort if they want to successfully run it together. Like with anything, marriage is to be nurtured and cherished if it is to grow and foster into a beautiful experience.

*We decided to share one thing we started doing to continue growing in our own marriage (and this can count for many other relationships as well) in hopes that it may benefit some of you. Recently, we came across this little book from Deseret Books which has dozens of golden activities for couples--you can use them for FHE or just a simple date activity. We tried this simple one (Blank of Hearts) a few nights ago--and LOVED it. We stayed up late talking and laughing as we reviewed our answers together. Some of our answers were silly and some more sentimental. Communication is key in any relationship and this activity allowed us to identify some little things that make a huge difference in a very open and real way.

Why not spread the wealth? We thought it would be fun to share a little "Love Challenge" every week.
Feel free to modify or incorporate them as you wish:
