(narration for pic. below) :
oooohhhh so you want to learn how to make amazing clay pots?!
well, you have come to the right place....
love him ^^
to top off Carson's heavy course load this semester, he enrolled in a ceramics class. he has talked about taking this class for some time now and he has finally had the opportunity to take it. often, he comes home talking about how much he has enjoyed this class,
little did I know, I am married to a profesh potter!
for date night on Friday, we "snuck" into the school's empty classroom and we went to work, pulling clay on the classroom wheels. we were there for hours, laughing, learning, and creating!
at first, I got so excited to try, I didn't listen very well. I had seen it done a few times and thought it would be intuitive. (oh how I was wrong!) a few gooey, crumpled "bowls" later, I had to turn to the master, again. it was so fun to watch him in his element. he taught me how to center the clay (golden rule: the clay MUST be centered!), pull the clay to make our pieces tall-short-thin-thick-deep-etc. as seen in the pictures, this is a delicate work. one mess-up and your piece is pretty much toast!
by the end, I was getting the hang of it and I LOVED it.
these are the things he has made for class so far this semester:
first thought: we won't ever have to buy cups, bowls, or plates again, Cars can just make them! ;)
needless to say, I was so impressed!
this is my first bowl-thing:
yeah, we aren't keeping this one!
BUT it is the first and hopefully will not be the last!

cheers to creating new things, memories and all!
